COMPLEX Complexity science studies the patterns of relationships within organizations, how they are sustained, how they self-organize and how outcomes emerge. This means dynamic social systems participants must experiment, improvise, initiate, mixing and matching responses to the ambiguous , nonlinear changes around them
CULTURE Culture is created by the basic underlying assumptions of an organization that determine the perceptions, thought processes, feelings and behavior of organizational employees. As time passes they become taken-for-granted and are no longer discussed or questioned. It’s just how we do things around here.
CHANGE There are three barriers to radical change in human systems: (a) cognition - cognitive frameworks shape awareness and interpretation, (b) motivation - pain of loss, uncertainty, fear of failure, avoidance, and (c) obligation - among stake holders inside and outside the system. Research suggests that change happens only when the pain of not changing exceeds the pain of change.
